Let me start this blog with the thing that I like a lot – Automobiles.
Automobiles are integral part of human life in this era. Without THEM, nothing else will happen in this world. Our basic needs are satisfied with the immense help of automobiles. If not for them, we all would still be farming in the villages and there might not be anything called “City”. I recognize the fact that the bloating automobiles are a major anti-green factor, affecting our environment by way of pollution. But still, without them, the human race would have been extinct. Anyways, that is not the point I am going to stress here and bother you guys. J
So far, I have had TVS XL Super, Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTS-i, Maruti Suzuki Swift Zxi and the latest to my collection is TVS Scooty Pep+. I would love to continue this list further and accommodate air transports in the coming future…
Before entering into automobiles, I had 2 bicycles – BSA SLR and Herculus MTB. Unfortunately, now I had tough time recollecting their brand names – a long forgotten story. My red (or was it Maroon) BSA SLR arrived to me when I was doing my VII standard. I drove it for a year to my school – after which it has been in the hands of many, including my sister. It was a little beauty, which is still running and being used by my father for his short distance local commute.
Next was my black Herculus MTB – bought for the purpose of commuting to my higher secondary school. I even used it for my early days of college going. It is not being used now and left in dormant state. This cycle reflects my teenage-time mindset. Back then, it was considered to be a fashion to drive a bicycle with straight-handle bar, risky breaks that produce sickening sound and last but not the least – a “fragile” back-carrier.
Wanting to move on to automobiles, I purchased (read it as – “my father bought it for me” because it is always my father who pays for them; even after I started earning) a green TVS XL Super (Dt.:16th June 1999). It used it for my daily commute to my college and thereafter for my first one-and-half year at work. It was running flawlessly till last month, when it completely broke down.
A silver gray Bajaj Pulsar 150cc (Dt.: 20th April 2007) came to me after I completed almost 4yrs of my professional life. It’s an excellent bike that has already completed 13,000Km in less than 14 months. Note: For the last 6 months, I was using it very sparingly. It was in all a great bike for the pick-up, mileage, smoothness, et al; I love this one. Whenever I had to go as single, I prefer this one for the very ride of it. I always get a feeling that I should have got this bike in my early 20’s so that I could have had some thrilling rides.
My best “automobile-friend” — silky silver Maruti Suzuki Swift (Dt.: 30th Jan 2008) is an excellent machine with power, comfort, style, safety, security, drivability, maneuverability and what not. My father, as promised, got this for me few months before my wedding. I now happily cruise this one wherever I go; it’s a fun cruising it for long distance. Wow!!! There is nothing that can match the fun that this beauty offers me every time I drive it. Keep this a secret: My wife sometime wants to take on the wheel, which I would politely deny saying that it is not safe for her to take on the traffic at this point.
The recent addition(Dt.: 11th Aug 2008), as I said earlier, is a “Naughty Brown” TVS Scooty Pep+. This got added to my list just about a week back because my XL Super finally gave up and ultimately broke down. Not wanting to change the tradition, my father paid for this as well (now read it as – “I made my father pay for this as well”). It looks like a wonderful vehicle with style, comfort, additional features and superior ride. Although this one is not entirely mine, I think I will be using it for a major portion. My father claims that he had got it to be used by him and my wife. Let’s wait and see who uses it the most; I know the answer – its me.
I wish my journey with automobiles will continue further to see airborne transport and things like that – hopefully in near future. I know, my father will provide me with the “required financial support” (means 100% payment) for them also.
